In Sage 50, data can become corrupted for a number of reasons but, if it does, it means that you can no longer rely on the validity of your accounts data – even one error is too many and it is imperative that data has zero errors.
Whilst there is a Check Data and Fix (Data Recovery Tools in v2012 and above) option in Sage 50, often the data cannot be fixed in this way. If the built in routines are unable to correct the problem, the immediate solution is to restore a ‘clean’ backup of you Sage data and then rekey, albeit this is not always possible or practical, especially if the errors have been there for some time.
If you do have errors, before you do anything else, try the steps detailed in the FAQ here.
Pricing and Timescales
By it’s very nature corrupt data cannot always be corrected so we offer a ‘no fix, no fee’ data fixing service where we’ll take your data and attempt to fix it. If it can be fixed, we’ll give you a price and, if you go ahead, you’ll get a clean set of data in return. There is no obligation at all and, if you choose not to go ahead, there is no fee at all for the work done up to that point. Rather than charge a flat fee, the cost of the data repairs is based on both the volume and severity of the errors. Prices start at £140+VAT and, as a guide, 90% of data repairs come in at between £160+VAT and £300+VAT.
For a free, no obligation quote, send a screenshot or PDF copy of any errors you have (after running Check Data, select the Errors tab and then Print) to us at info@leyburnsolutions.com and we will get back to you with a fixed cost and timescale to fix the data.
In most cases, we can fix data overnight or, if the corruption is particularly bad, over a weekend thereby keeping the disruption to your business to an absolute minimum, and, unlike Sage’s Data Fixing Service, there is no additional charge for carrying out work overnight.
What do we need from you
All we require is a backup copy of your Sage data (data files only, which you can select on the Advanced Options tab of the backup screen) and the password for the MANAGER logon. We can accept backup files up to 40MB via email but, if your file is larger than that or, for GDPR compliance, you can upload the data to the likes of Dropbox (for which we can provide a link) or WeTransfer.
For more information on this service, please contact us.
Note: This service is only available for Sage 50 v10 and above. Due to the nature of data corruption, it is sometimes necessary to remove transactions from the data completely – wherever possible, we will document such removals to enable you re-enter transactions where appropriate. A PDF giving further details of the data fixing service can be downloaded here.
Confidentiality
Any data sent to us will, of course, be treat in the strictest confidence and, once we’ve had confirmation from you that all is well and data has been restored on your system, all copies of your data are permanently deleted from our systems.
If you require us to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before dealing with your data, we are more than happy to do so. See our Privacy Policy for details of the data that we hold under GDPR rules.
